LOCATION

The Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC) Milan campus is located on hallowed turf. Developed around the original site of a monastery, the Milan campus is in the very heart of the city. Home to over 27,000 students, the Doric and Ionic cloisters provide a haven of peace and grace within a city which offers an abundance of food, history, heritage and choice. Milan is Italy’s commercial heart. Yet the city itself is a place of Cathedrals and Basilicas, galleries and museums, fortresses and canals, shops and restaurants, parklands and streetscapes.

DATES

The fall semester begins in early September and ends in January; the spring semester begins in January and ends in June.

PROGRAM ACADEMICS

Fordham students are approved to take courses in the UCSC International Curriculum.  All Fordham students are encouraged to take an Intensive Italian Language Course while studying at UCSC.  This course can be completed before the semester begins or throughout the entire semester.  This course would incur an additional fee that would be due to UCSC.

The Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore uses the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) which will be converted to Fordham credits on a 2:1 ratio. At UCSC, 6 ECTS credit points will be converted to 3 credits at Fordham. You must enroll in 30-36 credit points per semester.

HOUSING

Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore does not offer accommodation; however, Fordham partners with Worldstrides to house students in a student apartment building in Milan.  Along with guaranteeing housing within 30 minutes from Cattolica, Worldstrides offers orientation and excursions.  Further information on the housing application process will be sent directly to approved study abroad students.

REQUIREMENTS

You must have a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in order to apply.

Before completing the Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore exchange student application, all Fordham Study Abroad Application requirements must be satisfied.

Upon acceptance by Fordham, you will be given information regarding the application to UCSC. The deadline to apply to UCSC is typically one month after the Fordham deadline, which is why you are strongly encouraged to complete the Fordham application several weeks prior to the Fordham deadline.

My study abroad experience made me value a life vastly different than the one I had been leading for 20 years. I learned to slow down my pace of life from the 24/7 race of New York to the 3-hour breaks of Italy. I became more than conversational in Italian and  treasure the conversations I had every day with the people who worked at our corner market. I learned to slow things down and be more intentional as is the Italian way, but I also learned to value the time I had and live in those 5 months with the end always looming over which made for a packed 5 months full of European adventures and days in Milan.
