Program Details:

Students in this program are required to take the following two courses:

THEOS 3420: Crossing Boundaries: Bridging the Racial Divide - South Africa (3 credits)
A contextual theology course based on the South African experience of apartheid, liberation and transformation.  This course will explore the South African experience of Apartheid and try to understand how Christians came to develop the form of governance as was Apartheid. Several themes will be explored that relate to Apartheid, such as origins, identity, experience, struggle and separation. You will examine your own theology. Together we shall then explore issues relating to your own genesis, identity, experience, struggle and separation. At the center of this course will be the basic Christian notions of reconciliation, forgiveness, liberation, justice and humanity.
 
SOWJS 3400: Race, Class, Gender and Local Communities (3 credits)
This course focuses on the theory and practice of race, class and gender in the context of the development of community-based organizations; you will engage in both the academic and practical aspects of social analysis and community development through the lens of race, class and gender readings and discussions.
This course counts as SOCI 3405: Gender, Race, and Class at Fordham and has the following attributes ADVD, AFAM, AMST, APPI, ASHS, ASSC, LALS, LASS, LPGP, PJGS, PJIN, PJRC, PJST, PLUR, URST, WGSS

2-3 additional courses are chosen from those offered at University of the Western Cape
