What impact has your study abroad experience had on your life and studies?
My study abroad experience made me value a life vastly different than the one I had been leading for 20 years. I learned to slow down my pace of life from the 24/7 race of New York to the 3-hour breaks of Italy. I became more than conversational in Italian and treasure the conversations I had every day with the people who worked at our corner market. I learned to slow things down and be more intentional as is the Italian way, but I also learned to value the time I had and live in those 5 months with the end always looming over which made for a packed 5 months full of European adventures and days in Milan.

How will you keep your study abroad experience alive back in the US and Fordham?
I plan to continue speaking Italian whenever possible especially in the Bronx and with my past Italian professors. I keep in touch with my professors I had when I was abroad as I pursue my Italian film class by continuing to watch Italian movies and read Italian screenplays. I've made cooking a staple in my everyday life so I can sit down and take time to be mindful and intentional and create which I learned to love while I was in Italy.

What suggestions or advice would you give to a prospective study abroad student?
Be on top of housing and get housing as soon as it opens! Try to take Italian while you're there especially if you don't know any.
